The National Bicycle Dealers Association, in partnership with Jay Townley and Associates, has released the 2018 version of its annual report on the state of the US specialty bicycle retailer market.
The 103-page report, which draws data and insights from diverse and far-reaching sources, has proven a valuable resource to a variety of businesses that have purchased it in the past. “Most of the folks that buy these reports are vendors, investors, consultants, and new bicycle retailers looking for the answers to success,” noted NBDA Board Chair Kent Cranford, “but I’ve also studied them extensively, and have implemented critical changes to my shops based on the data.”
The cost of the report is $399, with a discounted price of $299 for NBDA members.
This year’s report includes forward-looking new research by Townley on ride share and its market impact, electric bikes, and the bike shop of the future. These are, of course, in addition to the evergreen topics that have been covered by the report since its inception in 2000. To see the full Table of Contents, click here.
“2018 was a seminal year for our industry in general, and for retailers in particular,” Townley said. “Many of the key trends that came to the fore were mere wisps as recently as 2016.”
“The NBDA and its members will surely benefit from this market report, which provides a statistical basis for the future, with definable trends based on high probability assumptions,” concluded Townley. “I’m really excited to get this information out to the bike industry .”
